Hampshire Engagement Shoot: Emily & Matt

Hampshire Wedding Photographer

I was stood at my stand at the Botley Park Wedding Fair near Hedge End when I saw someone I thought I recognised. I tried not to stare as I tried to figure out whether it was him or not, then he looked over and smiled. "You're Glen's sister, aren't you?!" He asked as he walked in my direction. "Yes, you're Matthew Clements." I replied. Ok, so I may have stated the obvious and it's Matt now, not Matthew as I used to call him. Something was different, and it wasn't the fact he had grown taller since I last saw him... his hat was missing. Matt used to be in the Sea Scouts with my brother when they were much younger and since we lived near to the scout hut, my brother would often turn up with Matt and some of the other crew members searching for items for their scavenger hunt. They wore black trousers, light blue shirts and white sailor hats. That's how I remembered Matt, in his Sea Scout uniform with a white sailor hat perched on his head. Life has changed since then, Matt has moved … [Read more...]

Hampshire Wedding Photographer Portfolio Slideshow

Just recently I was browsing through some of the weddings I've photographed and while I've posted a few blog posts along the way and posted links to some of the wedding websites I've created for my couples, I thought it would be helpful if my work could be viewed all in one place - other than my main website. So I've taken the liberty of creating a slideshow which showcases some of my favourite wedding images to date. The slideshow is set to music and due to the file size you may need to wait a few moments for it to load. There were so many images I wanted to include but you would have been sat here all day. Hopefully, from the selection I've chosen you will get a feel for my style of photography. So are you sitting comfortably? Don't forget to turn the music up and I hope you enjoy the show :) Hampshire Wedding Photographer Portfolio Slideshow If you'd like to chat about your Hampshire Wedding Photography, or indeed wedding photography in any other county, please feel free to … [Read more...]

Highfield Park Wedding Photography: Carly & Mark

Highfield Park Wedding Photography Hampshire

Carly and Mark met whilst working together in the Navy but they were destined to be more than just colleagues. One night whilst off duty, Mark decided to share his impression of Moby Dick with the crew (I will leave it for you to work out just what was involved!) - Naturally Carly was smitten. She fell hook, line and sinker for her fellow sailor. In June this year, Carly and Mark were married at Highfield Park in Hampshire and it was an honour to be invited to photograph their very stylish and glamorous wedding. Carly looked beautiful and her girlfriends proved to be very entertaining when it came to throwing the bouquet - or trying to catch it. Carly and Mark, you guys were great fun to work with and we're so happy to have been part of your day. Thank you also for feeding us - always appreciated! I'm very envious that you went to Hawaii for your honeymoon - that's where I want to go for mine! Congratulations to both of you and we wish you many years of happiness together. Below are … [Read more...]

Folkestone Wedding Photography: Steph & Keith

Folkestone Wedding Photography Hampshire Wedding Photographer Southampton Wedding Photographer

(Just so we're clear, there are two Keith's in this story, my Keith and Steph's Keith)... The day finally arrived for Keith and I to pack our bags and take the two and a half hour drive from Southampton, Hampshire to Folkestone in Kent for the wedding of the delightful Stephanie Langley and Keith Devon. We met with them for an engagement shoot a couple of months back and we felt so relaxed in their company. It was like meeting up with old friends. Steph (a police officer) and Keith (a web designer) are two of the loveliest, sincerest people you could hope to meet. As well as liking the photos, Steph felt that there were a lot of other similarities between us which prompted her to make the booking for her wedding photography. We drove to Folkestone the night before the wedding so that we could be there, ready to capture all the wedding preparations bright and early. As legend tells it (or at least the way their families tell it), cupid was hard at work matching these two together … [Read more...]

The Proposal

Kathryn Andrews Photography Hampshire Wedding Photographer

As many of you will know I was on holiday in Turkey during the end of April and the beginning of May. I can tell you, it was a welcome break. I haven’t been on holiday in about four years… ok, so Keith and I took a trip to Prague for a few days last September and while it was great to see the sights, it wasn’t a relaxing holiday and I was really quite unwell at the time. Two weeks in the sunshine was just what I needed, it’s what we both needed. The weather was perfect, the hotel we stayed in was lovely, the people were friendly and the scenery was just gorgeous. We seemed to alternate a day lazing by the hotel pool with a day at the beach or sightseeing. This holiday has left me feeling invigorated and ready for this coming wedding season, even my mum commented on how well we both look. Anyone who knows me well will know how much I love the beach and all things aquatic. I swear I was a mermaid in a former life. On the last day of our holiday we took a walk down to the … [Read more...]

A Folkestone Engagement Shoot: Steph & Keith

Folkestone Engagement Shoot Folkestone Wedding Photography

Steph contacted me last year after she came across the wedding photographs of Katy and Jim online and when I read the enthusiastic email she sent,  I knew was going to like her. I finally met Steph and her fiancé Keith on Sunday when we drove to Folkestone to meet them for their complimentary engagement shoot and I have to say, they are two of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. They were so friendly, fun and enthusiastic and I really am looking forward to their big day. Incidentally, Keith is a web designer and so I was thrilled when he said how much he loves my main website. I think there's a huge benefit to meeting couples before the wedding, visiting the wedding venue and sharing ideas about possible photo opportunities which is why I offer this service. Having an engagement shoot or pre wedding shoot as some call it, really helps my clients to relax in front of the camera and by the time the wedding day comes around we've built a rapport so it doesn't feel as … [Read more...]

Kathryn Andrews Personal Photography Project: Ghetto Unfabulous Week 3

Kathryn Andrews Personal Photography Project Ghetto Unfabulous

I knew it would be tricky to keep doing regular posts for this personal photography project... it's not because I haven't been taking the photos, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to write up the blog posts. A few weeks ago (it was still January) I did a boudoir shoot for a client at her home somewhere in the south of England. Keith came with me and on the way back we took a detour through Southampton. St Mary's to be precise. St Mary's is an interesting area to say the least and has changed considerably over the years. All I will say is it's not somewhere I'd feel comfortable walking around during the day, never mind at night. Having said that, a lot of new flats have gone up in the area aimed at students and young professionals. The image below was taken just down the road from a well known pub/music venue called the Joiners. It's where a lot of bands play before hitting the big time. Oasis played here on numerous occasions before they got their record deal back … [Read more...]

Hampshire Wedding Venue: Lainston House Hotel

Hampshire Wedding Venue Lainston House Hotel Winchester

Lainston House Hotel is a charming 17th Century country house set amongst 63 acres of beautiful Hampshire parkland near Winchester. As you sweep into the courtyard, delicate archways and loggias frame the picture perfect entrance and a small amble reveals a beautiful 12th Century chapel ruin and pretty dovecote. Having provided wedding photography at Lainston House I can honestly say that the hotel and the grounds are immaculate. I actually visited the venue the day before the wedding to check on the lighting situation at a certain time of the day and the gardeners were out sweeping the leaves and moving the lawn and I could see numerous staff busy preparing the flowers and other finishing touches for the wedding the following day. The rooms and hallways in Lainston House are stunning. Sometimes beautiful buildings are not always kept up so well on the inside but this is certainly not the case here... traditional charm with a twist of modern touches make Lainston House a truly … [Read more...]
