Extending a warm hello to all the readers of Kathryn's blog, I'm Keith and I'm hijacking Kathryn's blog today in order to write the following... Being a wedding photographer, Kathryn knows a fair bit about weddings and proposals and often when I come home from work she’ll have some article or video she wants to share with me. If it’s a proposal, it’s usually an over elaborate event either getting an entire tube carriage to sing or hiring out a cinema and doing a movie declaring their love. So no pressure then when it comes to proposing to someone in the industry. I’ve wanted to propose to Kathryn for a long time. I thought of everything and anything for the proposal, I looked into hot air balloon rides, trips to Paris, trips to Ireland where Kathryn’s family are from, I thought of taking her to London for a show or a boat ride on a river but none of my ideas felt special enough. Back in December we booked a holiday to Oludeniz in Turkey for the following … [Read more...]
The Proposal

As many of you will know I was on holiday in Turkey during the end of April and the beginning of May. I can tell you, it was a welcome break. I haven’t been on holiday in about four years… ok, so Keith and I took a trip to Prague for a few days last September and while it was great to see the sights, it wasn’t a relaxing holiday and I was really quite unwell at the time. Two weeks in the sunshine was just what I needed, it’s what we both needed. The weather was perfect, the hotel we stayed in was lovely, the people were friendly and the scenery was just gorgeous. We seemed to alternate a day lazing by the hotel pool with a day at the beach or sightseeing. This holiday has left me feeling invigorated and ready for this coming wedding season, even my mum commented on how well we both look. Anyone who knows me well will know how much I love the beach and all things aquatic. I swear I was a mermaid in a former life. On the last day of our holiday we took a walk down to the … [Read more...]
No Flash Please

As some of you may know, I'm in the beautiful city of Prague at the moment, enjoying a break away from the daily grind with my other half... we hadn't been on holiday for two years and decided to take a last minute trip.... although, to be honest, I wouldn't describe visiting a city as a relaxing break... more of a whistle stop tour of all the wonderful and interesting cultural attractions the city has to offer. If you ever decide to visit Prague, pack your camera - the Gothic and Bohemian architecture is stunning... I also strongly advise you to pack the flattest, comfiest shoes you can find. Most of the roads and pavements are cobbled and unless you get a taxi everywhere, there's a fair amount of walking and tube metro hopping to be done. The reason for today's blog post will be explained in just a moment. So far during our visit we've spent the best part of two days at Prague Castle - there's quite a lot to see and if you want to make the most of it and have time to stop and take … [Read more...]
Personal Post: The Sky Swing – Rotorua New Zealand
Last Sunday I wrote about my trip to New Zealand back in 2007 and how my Kiwi family came to visit in July this year. Anyway, I was looking through some old posts on Facebook and found a video I uploaded of my crazy adventure on the Sky Swing in Rotorua, New Zealand. This clip is from December 2007 and features me on the right and two of my younger cousins. You can tell by my voice and my nervous laugh that I didn't like it much... I was so nervous that I forgot I had an 8 year old sat next to me and wasn't really thinking about what I was saying. By the way, that huge beaming smile on my face after the first swing is the immense relief I felt when I realised that the cage stayed connected to the crane and didn't go flying off over the mountain side. Trust me, once is definitely enough! Happy Saturday everyone! … [Read more...]
The Way It Began: Part 1
I stood in the field wearing my blue and white striped peddle pushers - they were the best trousers I'd ever owned - at least until this point in my life. The cool sea breeze blew through my long golden hair as the sun began to sink lower into the ocean and my mum was anxious to get back in the car. 'Just one more photo?' My dad asked as he checked the camera settings on his Nikon. He directed my brother and I to climb on the metal farm gate and we sat on the top bar while my mum leaned on the gate post. I was seven years old, I had no cares in the world and I was happy to be on holiday in my favourite place - the West Coast of Ireland. While I perched on the farm gate, my mum kept asking my dad to hurry up. Being anaemic and very slim, she felt the cold easily. She tried to get my brother and I to hurry him along too. "I'm going back to sit in the car." she said. "Are you coming?" I decided to wait for dad. I was already aware of how much my dad enjoyed photography and I knew he … [Read more...]
