The Importance of Booking Your Wedding Photographer in Advance

Katy & Jim-353

Getting engaged to the one you love is so incredibly exciting that often, your head is buzzing with all sorts of emotions and ideas about what type of wedding you'll have. Who will your bridesmaids be? Who will you invite? Will you invite just immediate family and close friends or will this be a grand affair with long lost aunts and uncles and second cousins twice removed who you haven't seen in the last 10 - 15 years? You're right to be excited, you're right to have all these questions and ideas whizzing around in your head... but please, stop for a second a few hours (maybe longer) and consider this. The first thing that most couples book for their wedding is the venue. Once the venue has been booked, you can then start to organise everything else taking into account the type of venue it is and the location... but hold on... before you start choosing flowers and cakes, which are also a very important part of the day, please, please book your photographer. Your wedding will be … [Read more...]

Vintage Tea Party Wedding Hampshire

Vintage Tea Party Wedding

On Saturday I was up bright and early for the wedding of my good friend Lizzie and her fiance (now husband) Simon. As some of you will know from Thursday's blog post, Lizzie and Simon opted for a vintage tea party wedding held in a marquee in their field in Sway, near the New Forest in Hampshire. I was honoured to be asked to photograph such a special day for my friend and arrived bright and early (8.15am to be precise) to take Lizzie to the hairdressers where I photographed her having her hair done. We then headed back to her cottage to pick up a few final pieces to drop off at St. Andrews Church in Tiptoe before she could continue getting herself ready. I was joined by fellow photographer Kat Hill who travelled down from London to assist me with the wedding photography. It was great to finally meet Kat after chatting on Twitter for the past few months and it was a pleasure to have her along for the day. It was a gorgeous day, the sun shone brightly and although it was a little on the … [Read more...]

Pre-Wedding Engagement Shoot in Hampshire

Southampton Hampshire Pre-Wedding Engagement Photography

On Saturday we met with Stacey and Nathan at the Royal Victoria Country Park near Southampton in Hampshire for their pre-wedding engagement shoot. Stacey and Nathan met on a blind date arranged by friends about six years ago. Needless to say they were a perfect match and just a short week later they set up home together. The rest as they say is history. Stacey and Nathan were great fun to photograph and I look forward to providing their wedding photography in June. The wedding will be taking place at All Saints Church in Eastleigh, followed by a wedding reception at the Legacy Botleigh Grange Hotel, Southampton, Hampshire. Here are a few photographs from their pre-wedding engagement shoot: … [Read more...]

Fine Art Portrait & Wedding Photographers

Kathryn Andrews Photography Blog

I have loved art my whole life... as a child I loved being creative and would spend hours making things, painting and drawing and taking photographs. I was a perfectionist ... I wanted to convey every detail and create accurate representations. I loved realism... I wanted to produce images which looked exactly like the original subject matter... But I was also a dreamer with a vivid imagination and was inspired by surrealist painters. Growing up, I was inspired by painters such as Dali, Monet and the great oil painters whose works adorn the walls of the portrait gallery in the Tate. At university I became interested in painters whose work was so realistic and accurate that the paintings looked like photographs. I thought this type of work was amazing and showed real talent. As the years have passed I have found less time for painting but still love imagery and creating beautiful images. I love to record what I see and have focused more and more on photography. Having a background in … [Read more...]

Words of Thanks

Kathryn Andrews Photography Blog

With our tummies satisfied after our lunch date, my friend Lizzie and I got into the car and made our way back to my flat in Southampton, Hampshire... Lizzie was on a lunch break from work and had to head back for a meeting and I was going to carry on with some editing. As I drove into the car park I was a bit miffed that a car I didn't recognise had parked exactly half way between my space (my allocated space) and another parking space next to me. This left me no option but to park in the space to the right of mine which I didn't really want to do. The elderly man who used to park there and who has lived in the flat below me for the past seven years sadly passed away on Sunday. I knew he wouldn't be needing the space but thought that somebody might... somebody who cared deeply for him who might be coming to visit his home. As Lizzie and I walked around the corner towards my front door, I saw her, his companion in life, his friend and his carer. I had opened my door to her two days … [Read more...]

Winter Wedding at Cotswold 88 Hotel

Cotswold Wedding Photography

I've been looking forward to blogging about this wedding for months! Nicola contacted me a while back after she found me on Rock 'n' Roll Bride and told me how much she loved my photos :o))). We arranged to meet and discussed the wedding and photography requirements. Not only had Nicola chosen an amazing wedding venue at the Cotswolds 88 Hotel, she was also a lovely person and I was already looking forward to her big day. Saturday finally arrived and I made the journey from Southampton in Hampshire to the Cotswolds where Nicola was to marry her Australian fiance,  Cameron, and the day went without a hitch. The venue was absolutely amazing; Cotswolds 88 Hotel is an intimate lifestyle boutique hotel set in the hauntingly beautiful village of Painswick. Here, the modern and vintage merge with the historic exterior and funky interior breathing new life into the foundations of this stunning country retreat. The hotel’s ethos is based on the latest lounge trend in which luxury and … [Read more...]
