On Saturday I was up bright and early for the wedding of my good friend Lizzie and her fiance (now husband) Simon. As some of you will know from Thursday’s blog post, Lizzie and Simon opted for a vintage tea party wedding held in a marquee in their field in Sway, near the New Forest in Hampshire. I was honoured to be asked to photograph such a special day for my friend and arrived bright and early (8.15am to be precise) to take Lizzie to the hairdressers where I photographed her having her hair done. We then headed back to her cottage to pick up a few final pieces to drop off at St. Andrews Church in Tiptoe before she could continue getting herself ready. I was joined by fellow photographer Kat Hill who travelled down from London to assist me with the wedding photography. It was great to finally meet Kat after chatting on Twitter for the past few months and it was a pleasure to have her along for the day. It was a gorgeous day, the sun shone brightly and although it was a little on the warm side, Lizzie and Simon had thought of their guests and hired Brock Ice (a bicycle ice cream cart) who served the most delicious ice cream and there was an endless supply of refreshing beverages on tap all afternoon… thumbs up for that one guys! I’d also like to mention the amazing porta loos which Lizzie’s parents hired from a company called ‘Loos for Dos’… seriously the poshest porta loos I have ever seen! Guests were entertained by a string quartet for most of the day and later in the evening, Simon’s best man became DJ, playing a selection of favourites from 60s Rock n Roll to contemporary chart music. There were also various traditional garden games for guests to play including croquet, hoopla and bowls. Lizzie put a huge amount of effort into her wedding preparations, sourcing vintage china plates and cups and lots of crafty bits and pieces which really did add the finishing touches and transformed the marquee into a vintage tea party delight. If you love detail photos, you’ll love these… the attention to detail was really second to none…Lizzie and Simon even made their own colourful sugar cubes hearts (I’ve included quite a lot of photos here so after the first 6, click on the first thumbnail to enlarge and then you can click your way through the other images.) Wow, wonderful, words fail me, off to find some tissues.
The day seemed to race away, with so much to do and think about, luckily we had you to record, forever, precious images that we were lost to us.
Lizzie told us you were talented and with her artistic eye that is praise indeed. As we all know she is a perfectionist!
